Here's More information:

Phoenix Coffee is hosting a special event to sponsor a women's reproductive health workshop in a coffee-growing region of Nicaragua, and also to celebrate the one year anniversary of its newest cafe at 1300 West 9th street in the heart of Cleveland's growing downtown residential district, the historic warehouse neighborhood.

The event will be held this Saturday October 10th. Activities start at 12 noon with a green tea tasting hosted by Phoenix's taste ambassador and tea expert, Wes Johansen. Wes will be demonstrating the Chinese Gong Fu style tea ceremony. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person for this tasting, all the proceeds will go to help fund the grant request, through the Cafe Femenino Foundation.

At 1:00 pm, Stephen Shaum, Phoenix's lead barista trainer, will be conducting a milk texturing workshop. Aspiring baristas and home baristas will enjoy this opportunity to try their hand a creating perfectly textured milk in order to pour beautiful latte art designs. Again, there is a $5 per person suggested donation for this workshop.
At 2:00 PM, Jessie Mueller, Cafe Femenino Fundraising Captain will be hosting a Cafe Femenino information session and selling raffle tickets for $2 each. Prizes include Cafe Femenino roasted coffee and gift certificates from Phoenix Coffee, Divine Wine Bar, The Chophouse, Brasa and more.

At 3:00 pm, there will be a latte art competition amongst 10-20 professional baristas from independent coffeehouses around the city.

Charlie Mosbrook will be the MC for the event. Judges may include Carl Jones, the founder of Cleveland' Coffee house movement, and Dewey Forward from Dewey's Coffee in Shaker Square (to be determined). Event Organizers are hoping that the event will raise the necessary $1650 remaining in order to complete the grant request for the women's reproductive health clinic in Nicaragua.

Also during the event, the artwork of local artist Kyle Begue will be on display at the West 9th Street Cafe. Kyle's work is unique and well-suited to Phoenix's commitment to sustainability, because he uses all found objects as his medium. Specifically, he uses old window frames instead of canvas for his paintings.
Phoenix will be donating 10% of the day's sales to Cafe Femenino.

Thanks, Mike & Jeff Team CLE
